1966 Marx Batman Spinning Target Shooting Arcade in Original Box
This is the first time I've seen this tin litho Batman (with Robin The Boy Wonder) Spinning Targets Shooting Arcade. It's in immaculate near mint condition and comes complete with its original box plus both metal stanchion supports. Looks like it was never used! The toy features many of the late 1950's early 1960's graphics from the Batman comic. Basically it's an arcade shooting game with an enclosed target area, tin litho flooring, spinning metal targets, a permanently connected repeating hand gun (black plastic), and metal BB"s. Target graphics include The Joker, Catwoman, The Riddler, and the Penguin along with another criminal I don't recognize. The rear wall was lithoed with an early Batmobile speeding across the Gotham City landscape. A second graphic of the Batmobile is also present along the top edge of the target area adjacent to 25, 50, and 100 point "shoot-through-hole" values. Comic images of The Joker and Catwoman were lithoed on two vertical supports. Behind these are two spinning poles with three more villainous types. The "arcade" floor has an awesome, large image of Batman and Robin complete with early 1960's Batman logo. Marx Toys logo and patent numbers were lithoed toward the center, rear. A .45 caliber style hand gun is permanently connected to the front of the unit. The two original metal rod stanchions provide the exact tilt necessary for the metal BB's to return automatically after they've been fired. Comes in its original box which is just as fabulous as the toy. Every panel features comic style graphics of the Batman and Robin in action along complete with word balloons. The toy name and Marx company name were printed on all of the main box panels and the endflaps. Instructions with graphic schematic were printed on the narrower box panels. It's important to point out that this was a U.S. made toy (Glen Dale, WV.) and was officially licensed from National Periodicals. Size: 12" long x approx. 10" tall. Sold: Jul. 2010
